Sustainability covers a broad range of issues related to buildings, at ACA we work closely with each of our clients who individually have their own focus and goals for engaging with sustainability.

Recently the company was accredited as being certified Passive House Consultants; this is an esteemed international qualification which focuses on energy efficient construction and this certification complements ACA’s objective of designing energy efficient homes.

We believe the most sustainable way to construct a house is embracing the Fabric First Approach, reducing energy demands by putting as much effort as possible into the fabric of a building.

This method makes sense in many ways as in contrast to renewable technologies, a building’s fabric can’t be interfered with by the occupiers, in any significant way. Built correctly, a home constructed in this way will be cost effective and will continue to perform as intended for decades, but will also allow the option of adding renewables as and when finance is available.
